A Spouse’s Prayer Against Infidelity

Listen to this article

It is nearly easy to become a spouse however, being faithful is where the task lies. A lot of effort and hard work is necessary but most importantly, prayers are needed. And as the saying goes, “Prayer is the master key”. The physical is connected with the spiritual, so it is in marriage, “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19).

A lot of things could threaten your fidelity as a husband/wife. It could be bad attitudes or change of attitude from your spouse, loss of love for or from him/her or even seemingly irrelevant issues as financial issues. But a wise person makes sure to overcome these through efforts and prayers. This prayer might be all you need to obtain God’s grace to stay faithful to your spouse and your marital vows:

“Dear Lord, let me put on your armor and your shield against the temptations to cheat on my spouse. Even just one such dalliance, however innocuous or justified it may seem, is like a dagger thrust straight into the heart of my marriage and family.

Let me be conscious not only of its grave sin as a violation of your law of love, but also of the guilt and shame it entails as well. Let me not risk destroying my spouse’s trust in me, ripping apart my family, and possibly losing You forever from mortal sin.

Give me strength and wisdom to turn away from evil inclinations against marital fidelity immediately when temptation strikes. Let me have the good sense not to put myself in harm’s way through occasions of sin.

Blessed Mother Mary, I ask for your help and grace in these matters as well, in the name of Your Beloved Son, Christ our Lord. Amen”.
