Prayer to Saint Alphonsus Liguori for arthritis.

Arthritis is the swelling, inflammation and stiffness of the joints which results in serious pain. A lot of elderly people experience it and unfortunately, it only gets worse as one gets older. Despite how serious it is, prayers can obtain for you the strength, the peace and even the healing you need, “LORD my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me” (Psalm 30:2). Even if you have been committing your health to God, you can also ask Saint Alphonsus Liguori to intercede for you.

Who is Saint Alphonsus Liguori?

Saint Alphonsus was a priest, a theologian and a doctor of the Church who founded the congregation of the Redemptorists (The most Holy Redeemer). He was a devoted soul and at 66 years of age, was made Bishop.

His life as an arthritis patient.

Saint Alphonsus suffered from serious arthritis till he died. When he was made bishop, his arthritis of the hips and pelvis became much worse. He also developed curvature of the spine. His arthritis was so severe that he offered masses enduring excruciating pain. Later on, he died and was made patron saint of arthritis patients and the aged.

Why should we pray to Saint Alphonsus for healing of arthritis?

Due to his life as an arthritis patient, a lot of people suffering from such illness deem it fit to call on him for intercession and through his intercession, a lot of arthritis patients have received their miraculous healings. Say this prayer to Saint Alphonsus that he may intercede for you too:

“Saint Alphonsus, loving Father of the poor and sick, all your life you devoted yourself with charity towards those who suffer sickness. I invoke you as the patron of those who suffer with arthritis since you were afflicted with this disease in your lifetime.

Look with compassion on me in my suffering. Full of confidence in your intercession I come to you for help in my present need (mention need).
Amen”.
