Spouses’ Prayers for Their Union

Listen to this article

As a partner, a spouse to another, it is your responsibility to pray for them. Their well being and state of life should be your priority. For a spouse whom you love, their challenges, difficulties, strengths and weaknesses should be your topmost priority.

For this reason, prayers are made and recommended to be said for one’s spouse. This prayer offers up one’s spouse to God, committing their physical and spiritual well being to Him; asking that God strengthens them where they are weak and helps them overcome every difficulty which they have to deal with.

Say this prayer for you and your spouse:

“Lord Jesus, grant that I and my spouse may have a true and understanding love for each other. Grant that we may both be filled with faith and trust. Give us the grace to live with each other in peace and harmony. May we always bear with one another’s weaknesses and grow from each other’s strengths. Help us to forgive one another’s failings and grant us patience, kindness, cheerfulness and the spirit of placing the well-being of one another ahead of self.

May the love that brought us together grow and mature with each passing year. Bring us both ever closer to You through our love for each other. Let our love grow to perfection. Amen”.

This is also a great prayer to say:

“Lord, thank you for dwelling in our very own family, with all its daily troubles and joys. Thank you that we can come to you transparently, with our messiness, without hiding behind a mask of false perfection. Please guide us as we seek to make our home your dwelling place. Inspire us with signs of thoughtfulness and kindness so that our family continues to grow in our love for you and one another”.
